Dracula is a centuries-old vampire and Transylvanian nobleman. He lives a crumbling castle in the Carpathian Mountains. Dracula seem to possesse a dark and evil soul. He can shift into an animal, control the weather, and is stronger than twenty men. His powers are limited, however, he cannot enter a victim’s home unless he is invited, cannot cross water unless carried, and is powerless during daylight.
THE THREE SISTERS:
The three vampire sisters live in Dracula's castle and serve him. They are very seductive and evil.
DRACULA'S VICTIMS:
LUCY WESTERNRA:
Lucy is an attractive, joyful young woman. She is Mina's best friend and Arthur Holmwood's fiancée. She is also Dracula's first victim to fall under his spell and transform into a vampire. Due to her behaviour after transforming, Van Helsing’s crew track down the demon she has become and kills it, following the rituals of vampire slaying, and thus restoring Lucy’s soul to her body and to heaven.
MINA MURRAY HARKER:
Mina is a schoolteacher and Jonathan Harker’s fiancée. She is best friend with Dracula’s first victim, Lucy Westenra and later on, Dracula's next victim after Lucy in the novel. Mina is in many ways the heroine of the novel, embodying purity, innocence, and Christian faith despite her suffering at the vampire’s hands. She is intelligent and resourceful, and help lead Van Helsing’s men to Dracula's castle.
PROTAGONIST {a.k.a. VAMPIRE HUNTERS}:
ABRAHAM VAN HELSING:
Van Helsing is a Dutch professor and is described as “a philosopher and metaphysician, and one of the most advanced scientists of his day.” He is called by one of his former student, Seward, to help cure Lucy Westenra, Van Helsing’s contributions are essential in the fight against Dracula. He knows the traditional science and knowledgeable about vampire folklore. Van Helsing have become Dracula’s chief antagonist and the leader of the group that track Dracula down and destroys him before its too late.
ARTHUR HOLMWOOD:
Holmwood is one of Lucy’s suitor but later becomes her fiancée and also a friend of her other suitors. He is the first to offer Lucy a blood transfusion but later agrees to kill her demonic form as a vampire.
JOHNATHAN HARKER:
A solicitor whose firm sends him to Transylvania to do a real estate business with Dracula. After arriving at Dracula's castle he find himself a prisoner in the castle and barely escapes with his life. He is very curious to discover the true nature of Dracula and around the castle. Harker is a brave and fearless fighter. He have a fiancée named Mina Murray, but later marries her and have a son together.
JOHN SEWARD:
A talented young doctor, formerly Van Helsing’s pupil. Seward is the administrator of an insane asylum not far from Dracula’s English home. Throughout the novel, Seward conducts ambitious interviews with one of his patients, Renfield, in order to understand better the nature of life-consuming psychosis. Although Lucy turns down Seward’s marriage proposal, his love for her remains, and he dedicates himself to her care when she suddenly takes ill. After her death, he remains dedicated to fighting Dracula.
QUINCEY MORRIS:
A plainspoken American cowboy from Texas, and one of Lucy’s suitors. Throughout the novel, he proves himself to be a brave and good-hearted man. Instead of grudging, he congrats Holmwood his success in winning Lucy’s hand. Quincey sacrifices his life in order to destory Dracula.

RENFIELD:
Renfield is one of Seward’s patient at the mental asylum. Variously a strong behemoth and a refined gentleman, Renfield has a habit of consuming living creatures such as flies, spiders, birds, etc.—which he believes provide him with strength, and life force.
MRS. WESTERNRA:
Mrs. Westernra is Lucy’s mother. A brittle woman of failing health, Mrs. Westenra accidently sabotages her daughter’s safety by interfering with Van Helsing’s folk remedies. She dies of shock when a wolf jump through Lucy’s bedroom window.
